9 July 2009 - Meet The Publisher, Tamarind Books

Founder and MD of Tamarind Books, Verna Wilkins speaks about the importance of publishing engaging, enjoyable and superbly illustrated stories which reflect the diversity of the world in which our children are growing up. With a list that includes picture books, fiction and biographies, Tamarind has won many awards for its contribution to children's literature, most recently the Decibel Award for Cultural Diversity at the British Book Industry Awards 2008. Tamarind titles have been chosen among Books of the Year, feature on BBC children's television and are now reaching into international markets. Verna's mission is to give a high positive profile to children from ethnic minorities and those with disabilities. Recent titles include 'And Me!' by Karen King, 'Purrfect!' by Sarah Nash and 'Big Eyes, Scary Voice' by Edel Wignell. 

 

15 September 2009 - An Evening With An Author And Her Editor 

 

Sally Nicholls, award-winning author of Ways To Live Forever and Season of Secrets discusses the author/editor relationship with her editor Marion Lloyd, Publisher at Marion Lloyd Books, Scholastic. 

 

22 October 2009 - Developing Your Ideas for TV

Gather top tips from a professional screen writer and freelance script consultant Abby Ajayi . She'll discuss how to write a treatment to market your TV and film ideas. She has done script reading and development work for BBC Children's Drama, Working Title Films and Film Four. Her screenwriter credits include: The Story of Tracy Beaker, Eastenders and Casualty.
