SCBWI Wales
SCBWI Wales is launching in 2009 with coordinator
David Thorpe, author of Hybrids - Winner of the HarperCollins-Saga Magazine 2006 Childrens Novelist competition and the 2008 Lewisham Book Award.
Members will meet on a regular basis to discuss work and offer mutual support. The first meeting is on Thursday 26th February, at 7.30pm in the upper bar of the Arts Centre in Aberystwyth.

This will be a getting to know each other session, and we will also plan what events we want to arrange as a programme for the year, how often we want to meet, etc. For example, besides critique groups, we could invite editors, agents, teachers, librarians, etc. along to tell us about their work and what they would like from us.
The organisers of the Hay Children's Literature Festival and the Gwanwyn Festival will be there, as will the local press and a donation of six bottles of wine from the venue! See you there!
In order to get to know each other, you're welcome to bring along some of your work. Better still, if you want to send a sample - and say whether or not you'd like some constructive feedback on it at the gathering - by email, to me, I can circulate it in advance to everyone else, so we have a chance to read it before the meeting. I'll then build this into the gathering's schedule.
Anyone interested in finding out more please email David.
It might be useful if coordinators for North and South Wales also came forward to create regional groups there.
